An incredible opportunity is now available for a Registered Midwife to join the team in MAPS, located at Nepean Hospital in a Permanent Part time role. This is an amazing opportunity to care for Women and Babies that identify as Aboriginal.
This position supports optimal outcomes for Aboriginal women and their families within our community through promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care. The Midwife is to act as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the woman undergoing specialised procedures.
Your role as MAPS Midwife will participate in the evaluation and continuous service development in collaboration with the Midwifery Unit Manager Women & Children's Outpatient Services, the Midwifery Manager, Midwifery Educators and Midwifery Consultants.

What you will bring to the role:
- Current Registration to practice as Division 1 Registered Midwife with AHPRA
- Demonstrate recent experience as a Registered Midwife in an environment appropriate to the relevant specialty. Antenatal OPD includes (but not limited too) bookings, midwives clinic and use of the ACM guidelines for consultation and referrals. Postnatal includes (but not limited too) community based postnatal care.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrate ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive, including experience and/or understanding of working with Aboriginal Families and their communities.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations. Demonstrated commitment to the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles.
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel. Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position.
