About the Rural Health Workforce Incentives Scheme

NSW Health recognises the impact of working and living in a rural and regional area. NSW Health and the NSW Government introduced the Rural Health Workforce Incentives Scheme (RHWIS) to build and sustain the rural health workforce.

The RHWIS offers a range of incentives that current and future NSW Health employees will have the benefit of accessing while working at rural and regional locations in hard to fill and critically vacant positions. Employees can have access to base incentives, in addition to an incentives package value of up to $20,000 depending on the role.

Imagine Rural

Working in rural and regional NSW is a rewarding experience with life in these areas offering both professional and personal development and unique experiences. These communities need health workers now more than ever. Whether you're a clinical, medical, paramedical, allied health, administrative, or support - there is a career waiting for you at more than 228 public hospitals and hundreds of health facilities across rural and regional NSW.

Financial Advice

NSW Health strongly recommends that you discuss any incentives you are receiving with a financial advisor. NSW Health does not provide financial and tax advice. Any fringe benefit tax liability is not counted as part of the value of the package and the employing health agency is responsible for payment of any fringe benefit tax incurred.
