Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained specialist pathways. Trainees who are expecting to complete their requirements for Fellowship of the RANZCP within the next 6 months are eligible to apply
  2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Fellowship of the RANZCP and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Membership of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, RANZCP, or equivalent
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team
  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution skills
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
  6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site as required within a reasonable time
  7. Experience with a wide range of treatment methods including psychotherapeutic approaches, and the use of psychotropic medications
  8. Adaptability to the needs of the child, their family, and the changing requirements of the position

The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title (levels A to D) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience.  The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the University Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.  The academic title will be held for the duration of The Children's Hospital at Westmead appointment.  No remuneration is attached to the University appointment.  The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for clinical matters.
