Take on a key leadership role that influences the delivery of safe, high‑quality, and patient‑centred pharmacy services across the organisation. This position offers the opportunity to lead clinical and operational excellence, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, including the Poisons Act, while driving best practice in medication safety. With a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement, this role contributes to the development of medication policies, leads risk reduction strategies informed by clinical incident reviews, and plays an integral part in governance, accreditation, and safety committees. As a valued member of the Pharmacy Leadership team, this role helps shape strategic priorities, enhance service delivery, and support research, education, and quality use of medicines initiatives.
Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate is an experienced and dynamic pharmacy leader with proven expertise in managing both clinical and operational services. Strong leadership capability is essential, including experience in staff supervision, recruitment, performance management, and fostering a culture of accountability and compliance across teams. Demonstrated knowledge of medication safety, legislative requirements, and policy development is critical, alongside the ability to coordinate resources effectively including rostering, WHS compliance, security, and equipment management to meet service demands. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, combined with experience contributing to governance committees and managing financial performance, will support success in this role. A commitment to continuous improvement, staff development, and high‑quality patient care, along with flexibility to participate in on‑call and after‑hours services, is essential.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with post registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills/experience
- Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice, preferably in a large teaching hospital, including experience managing the provision of pharmacy services
- Demonstrated skills and experience in rostering and service planning, including the identification, implementation and evaluation of initiatives to ensure the attainment of operational and performance targets within negotiated timeframes to maintain continual quality enhancement
- Demonstrated experience in Medication Related Safety and Quality Initiatives and Standards and the ability to apply these to contemporary pharmacy practice.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and develop high quality written guidelines, procedures, educational, research or business materials
- Demonstrated abilities to gather and analyse data for financial and operational performance of the department and suggest improvement strategies
- Proven ability and commitment to effectively role model, champion and promote teamwork, manage and develop staff, build co-operation and overcome barriers to teamwork, communication and collaboration
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and active participation in research, presentation or publication of research findings
- Ability to work on call, weekends, afterhours and public holidays if required.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
