What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, the Westmead Deputy Director of Pharmacy - Cancer Services is responsible for the planning, management, provision, and evaluation of a high-quality, cost effective, patient centred cancer care pharmacy service and clinical trials at Westmead Hospital, in accordance with the vision and strategic goals of Westmead Hospital and the WSLHD.
This role will provide leadership and guidance to coordinate the orientation, training, education, professional development, and supervision of cancer care pharmacy staff to deliver a comprehensive, collaborative, and complex range of specialised clinical and operational pharmacy services to cancer patients that optimise therapeutic outcomes and prioritise medication safety within established policies and procedures, ethical and professional practice standards, and legislative requirements.
This role will assist the Director of Pharmacy with the financial accountability and governance of the cancer care pharmacy service, including procurement of cancer therapeutics, clinical trials budget negotiation and invoicing sponsors for services delivered.
The Deputy Director of Pharmacy - Cancer Services will represent Westmead Pharmacy and WSLHD on local, state-wide, and national forums and working groups on cancer therapeutic risk management, medication safety, and others where expert advice is required.

Selection Criteria:
- Extensive experience in cancer care pharmacy practice, preferably in a large teaching hospital, including experience managing the provision of cancer pharmacy services
- Demonstrated skills and experience in rostering and service planning, including the identification, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives to ensure the attainment of operational and performance targets within negotiated timeframes to maintain continual quality enhancement
- Demonstrated experience in Medication Related Safety and Quality Initiatives and Standards and Good Clinical Research Practice and the ability to apply these to contemporary pharmacy practice.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and develop high quality written guidelines, procedures, educational, research or business materials
- Demonstrated abilities to gather, analyse, understand and work with data for financial, clinical and operational performance of the department and suggest and deliver improvement strategies
- Proven ability and commitment to effectively role model, champion, manage, motivate and provide leadership to a team to deliver outcomes, develop staff, build co-operation, and overcome barriers to teamwork, communication and collaboration
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and active participation in research, presentation, or publication of research findings
- Ability to work on call, weekends, afterhours, and public holidays if required
