As a Clinical Nurse Consultant/Clinical Midwife Consultant in SESLHD you will play a pivotal role to The Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) in clinical service and consultancy, clinical leadership, research, education and clinical services planning and management, across gynaecology, maternity, and neonatal services.
 
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant/Clinical Midwife Consultant you will utilise your extensive experience and/or qualifications to lead health promotion and diversity inclusion programs, developing evidence-based educational initiatives including classes, training, and digital resources for diverse populations. Your role champions equity and inclusion through policy development, quality improvement, staff education, and community partnerships while ensuring cultural safety and accessibility standards align with NSW Health frameworks.
 
Working with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders, you will engage with staff, patients, and consumers to facilitate practice changes that improve health outcomes, enhance care experiences, and advance clinical excellence. You will provide expert consultation on inclusive practices and serve as a role model for educational and professional leadership.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife
  2. Having at least 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation. An employer may also require a higher qualification in the specialist nursing field where such a qualification is considered essential for the performance of the individual position.
  3. Demonstrated ability to apply clinical expertise in a consultant role and the ability to work independently.
  4. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  5. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing and/or midwifery care.
  6. Demonstrated experience in leading and implementing change, and developing direction in clinical practice by initiation, utilisation, review and translation of evidence-based research into practice, within a person-centred framework.
  7. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills and use of software programs to analyse data and produce reports.
  8. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
