What you'll be doing
  
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Early Breast Cancer Care – is a Registered Nurse who acts as a clinical expert and functions as a resource person for staff of the RHW, POW, SESLHD The CNC provides leadership in the development and enhancement of specialist services for women presenting with Breast Cancer and facilitates research based clinical practice 
  
The CNC Early Breast Cancer Care will liaise with relevant service providers including community services and rural health care providers The role includes effective communication with patients and their primary others to assess needs and provide relevant support, information, education, advice and counselling where necessary. 
  
The CNC Early Breast Cancer Care will be involved in the Medical Oncology/Radiation Oncology Day Centres, POW, POW/RHW and the NSW Women’s Breast Centre. The role involves liaison with the CNC McGrath Breast Care and Metastatic Breast Care, the Director and Nursing Unit Manager of the NSW Women’s Breast Centre and Breast Cancer Services.. The position is based with the NSW Women’s Breast Centre at the RHW and is operationally responsible to the Nursing Clinical Co-Director Women’s Health and Gynaecological Services and is professionally responsible to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, RHW. 
  
Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 means: A  registered nurse/midwife appointed as such to a position approved by the Health Service, who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.  In addition the employee must have approved post graduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed to or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the Health Service.  An employer may also require a higher qualification in the specialist nursing field where such qualification is considered essential for the performance of the individual position. 
 

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field and post graduate qualifications in the field of Oncology, Breast Cancer Care or Women’s Health Nursing.
  3. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  4. Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
  5. Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research.
  6. Demonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural change processes.
  7. Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and experience in the development of specialty education programs.
  8. Demonstrated clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
