The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Alcohol and Other Drugs service offers free, non-judgemental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use, including information and support for families. Our service offers specialist drug and alcohol doctors, nurses and allied health staff who respect the client's right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.
This role delivers a high standard of case management to patients accessing the service, including the safe and compliant administration of opioid substitution therapies such as methadone and buprenorphine, including buprenorphine/naloxone, in line with the NSW Poisons Act (1966). Working as part of a multidisciplinary health team, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues to plan, implement, assess and evaluate comprehensive nursing care within the unit.

What you will bring to the role
- Current Nursing Registration (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated experience and clinical skills in Acute Medical / Mental Health Nursing as a Registered Nurse (including completion of a new graduate RN program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse) and a keen interest to learn and gain experience in Drug and Alcohol.
- Demonstrated awareness of Drug and Alcohol dependence issues and Opioid Treatment Programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multi-disiplinary team including Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Community staff as well as General Practitioners, and external agencies.
- Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to identify and resolve conflict situations by managing own emotional responses and interacting with others in a personable and professional manner.
- Ability to work a flexible roster, day or evening shift across all days of the week according to the unit/service requirements.
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
