Where you will be working: 

Central Coast Local Health District offers an Integrated Training Program (ITP), for medical officers in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), based at Gosford Hospital. The program satisfies the requirements of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), for Membership and Fellowship. This position involves general experience in labour ward management and gynaecology operating. Provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatients and outpatient areas in the public health organisation. The department also offers support and guidance for the completion of RANZCOG's Certificate of Women’s Health (CWH).

Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and trauma centre for the Central Coast, with over 500 inpatient beds and 24/7 access to the emergency department and operating theatres. A recent $368 million dollar redevelopment delivered a new emergency department, ICU, nuclear medicine facility, special care nursery and expanded medical imaging services.

Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital with over 300 beds providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern region of the Central Coast. A recent $200 million expansion delivered a new emergency department, ICU, paediatric unit, inpatient wards, theatres and expanded medical imaging services. Another development is the Wyong Women’s Centre, due for completion at the end of 2024. This will provide more accommodation for antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics.  In addition, there will be two procedure rooms for more outpatient procedures to be performed,

In conjunction with the University of Newcastle, CCLHD has recently opened the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute on the Gosford Hospital campus, providing additional opportunities in training and research.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  2. Completion of at least four postgraduate years and 2 years Obstetrics and Gynaecology training, working as a medical officer with demonstrated competence and eligible to be accepted into a recognised training program
  3. Demonstrated commitment to relevant training program and related medical experience in relevant specialties’. Working towards completion of relevant College examinations.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education with a willingness to teach JMO’s, Medical Students and Allied Health.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  7. Demonstrated time management, problem solving skills and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills, with minimum of 30 words per minute. Along with evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.   8. Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.
