Tweed Valley Hospital 

Contract Period: 12 months 
Contract Dates: 3 February 2025 – 1 February 2026 (Clinical Year 2025)

About Tweed Valley Hospital 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Tweed Valley Hospital, your primary work location and a new, major referral hospital at the heart of the network of hospitals and health facilities across the Tweed-Byron region, also including Murwillumbah District & Byron Central Hospitals.  The 723.3 million state-of-the-art hospital opened on 14 May 2024 and will deliver additional health services and bed capacity to meet the growing community's healthcare needs. The hospital is the most northerly hospital in New South Wales. The hospital is actively growing and developing services to support the needs of our communities.  

Tweed Valley Hospital has: 

•           currently 280 beds with capability to expand to 430 beds 

•           expansive outpatient facilities with opportunity to increase available clinics 

•           a developing interventional cardiology service 

•           a fully capable emergency department with 42 treatment spaces 

•           an integrated cancer care service with radiotherapy 

•           12 operating theatres 

•           a dedicated Learning, Development & Research centre located on campus, with modern library facilities 

•           End of trip facilities (showers etc) and free staff parking!

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment. Unaccredited trainees will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to female patients of all ages presenting in any condition or stage of pregnancy or the puerperium; and female patients presenting with illnesses, injuries and disorders of the gynaecological or genitourinary system.
 
Unaccredited Trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including inpatient ward care, birthing unit, theatres and outpatients (e.g. antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology) clinics.
 
This position can contribute towards a RANZCOG diploma or assist trainees to obtain an accredited RANZCOG training position in the future.

  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role (please address these in your response)
  2. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
  4. Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills
  5. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
  7. Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of obstetrics and gynaecology.
