Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is seeking 1FTE experienced and enthusiastic Unaccredited Trainee to join our ENT Department in 2025

  • An abundance of theatre time with direct access to the ENT Consultant
  • Combination of elective and emergency lists - you are in amongst it all! 
  • Supported by 1FTE ENT Consultant and 1FTE Intern.

With 348 treatment spaces and we are the major Rural Referral Hospital to the North West of NSW. We conduct over 9000 surgical procedures per annum over 5 theatre spaces; with the new facility boasting an additional 3 theatre rooms which have been built for future growth.

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the role is to provide effective clinical management of surgical patients, under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. The unaccredited trainee is the key person who works closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deals with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.
Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the unaccredited trainee’s skills, knowledge and experience. They will be expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to their experience, under the guidance of and at the discretion of the appropriate Attending Medical Officer (AMO). All patients managed within the hospitals of the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding a patient’s care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  2. At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent) with at least 6 months of recent experience in Otolaryngology and/or Head and Neck Surgery
  3. Completion of EMST or ATLS course at commencement of post
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
  5. Demonstrated effective teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary clinical care team
  6. Successful completion of GSSE
