The Trainee - Unaccredited Position in Paediatric Plastic Surgery is available at The Children's Hospital at Westmead for up to 12 months for the 2025 Clinical Year, from 03 February 2025 to 01 February 2026. The successful applicant will be responsible for inpatient, outpatient and operating theatre patient management and be responsible to the head of the unit. They will also be responsible for initiating projects and participating in ongoing clinical research. The unaccredited trainee will be required to participate on the on call plastic surgery roster after hours.

Selection Criteria:

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.

  2. Minimum three years post graduate experience.

  3. 6 months experience in relevant subspecialty or equivalent preferable and a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in plastic surgery

  4. Emergency Management of Severe Trauma Course (EMST / ATLS) (Provider / Instructor) and Emergency Management of Severe Burns Course (Provider / Instructor).

  5. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.

  6. Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.

  7. Demonstrated contribution to the development of hospital services e.g. participation in Paediatric Junior Staff matters, representation on behalf of the Hospital, participation in Hospital Committees preferable.

  8. Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research proposal.
