About The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dedicated speech pathologist to join a supportive team providing high quality services to patients admitted to Bankstown Hospital. This senior position is responsible for assessment and intervention for patients with communication and swallowing disorders across the inpatient caseloads. Opportunity to complete VFSS and/or FEES, provide supervision and training to other staff, and work on quality improvement projects within the team. The successful applicant will be well supported and have access to supervision and professional development.
What you'll be doing
The position is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the delivery of speech pathology services to adults with swallowing and communication difficulties in the inpatient setting. As a senior clinician the speech pathologist is responsible for overseeing and providing an efficient and effective service through the application of clinical expertise and knowledge in the management of patients with swallowing and communication difficulties in the acute setting. This position will also provide rotational weekend cover.
They will also contribute to senior departmental duties including clinical supervision, leading of quality improvement activities, participation in service development and other administrative responsibilities as required.

- Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which is accredited as eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students.
- Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and time management.
- Demonstrated commitment to EBP and experience implementing EBP into service planning and evaluation of service changes.
- Advanced clinical knowledge and postgraduate experience and skills in managing adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties in a hospital setting, including competency in instrumental assessments (VFSS and/or FEES)
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
