Where You'll Be Working:
In this role, you will provide a clinical coding, education and auditing services to the SESLHD hospitals, such as Prince of Wales Hospital (Randwick), Royal Hospital for Women (Randwick), Sydney Hospital Sydney Eye Hospital (Sydney), St George Hospital (Kogarah) and Sutherland Hospital (Caringbah). You will be working with an expert team that is supportive, dedicated, and passionate about clinical coding. SESLHD Coding Services provide ongoing education and quality programs for the teams development. We continuously seek ways to provide our team with the best access to quality documentation and tools to assist them in achieving their best quality work. 

What You'll Be Doing:

The Clinical Coding Auditor/Educator is responsible for conducting casemix education activities, and audits across SESLHD Clinical Coding services. Furthermore this position will provide support in training new coders, and face to face education of clinicians on clinical documentation, coding and related casemix information as per the SESLHD Coding Audit and Education framework.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification in a Bachelor of Health Information Management in Applied Science (HIM) or Diploma of Medical Record Administration or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated extensive, recent, clinical coding experience in using ICD-10-AM clinical classification with at least 3 years post graduate experience in a clinical coding position.
  3. Sound knowledge of audit processes/tools and data integrity.
  4. Sound understanding of Australian and NSW Coding Standards
  5. Knowledge of developing, designing and implementing training programs including face to face training with clinicians.
  6. Thorough understanding of the NSW Admitted Episodes Dataset and the NSW Policy and funding guidelines.
  7. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  8. Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation demonstrating motivational, and advocacy capabilities
