The Nepean Blue Mountains Health District offers a wide range of Medical Imaging (Radiology), Nuclear Medicine, and Nuclear Medical Therapy procedures through our various facilities/services with a goal to help diagnose, assess, and treat patient's injury or disease.

The Senior Sonographer works In conjunction with the Chief Radiographer and General Manager of Radiology. The successful incumbent will manage the Ultrasound service and discharge the associated administrative duties.  The candidate will be responsible for providing a range of complex and routine ultrasound examinations and procedures, providing high quality imaging services that is patient focused in accordance to the objectives and policies of Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Degree in Medical Radiation Science and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) as a Medical Radiation Practitioner (Diagnostic Radiography).
  2. Post Graduate Diploma or master’s degree in Medical Ultrasound and registration with Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR).
  3. Demonstrated high level of knowledge and clinical expertise in Ultrasound with the ability to perform a full range of complex examinations.
  4. Experience and proven ability to fully manage all aspects of a sectional modality. This will include the ability to establish workflows and procedures to safely maximise patient throughput.
  5. Demonstrated leadership qualities, communication and interpersonal skills to supervise teams and work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  6. Demonstrated well developed problem solving and clinical reasoning skills
  7. Demonstrated ability to supervise, instruct and mentor other MRS's, undergraduates and other health professionals.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment
