What you'll be doing
The Medical Device Service (MDS) Senior Biomedical Engineer has overall responsibility for the management of clinical equipment for patient care directly and through the direct supervision of a team of Technicians/Engineers. This involves procurement, acceptance, fault management, routine testing and disposal of medical devices. All of this is to be achieved in a reliable and cost-effective manner, consistent with the clinical needs for the device, the priorities of the clinical customer and within the organisational guidelines. The objective is to provide safe, effective, reliable and well-maintained clinical equipment for patient care throughout NSLHD facilities. The MDS Senior Biomedical Engineer provides technical solutions to clinical problems through the resources of the Clinical Technology Service (CTS) and external providers. The MDS Senior Biomedical Engineer is also part of the CTS Senior Management team.
CTS is committed to providing high quality, responsive service to health facilities throughout the district. The MDS Senior Biomedical Engineer is required to travel to and work at all of the other NSLHD facilities, and any private customers.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor's degree in either Biomedical engineering, Electronics/Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, or Mechatronic engineering, with a coursework background in electronic, electrical, Anatomy and Physiology. (Qualification must be recognized by Engineers Australia). Knowledge and experience in engineering design, evaluation and fabrication.
- Demonstrated experience in supervision of engineering/technical staff and proven high level of expertise and knowledge of health technology equipment asset management and systems.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical staff, equipment suppliers, service providers, team members, and senior leaders.
- Demonstrated engineering experience working in a heavily regulated environment and able to demonstrate a commitment to the principle of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems, prioritise workloads and resources, ability to meet key deadlines and to work independently and as well as part of team.
