About the Opportunity
The Senior Analyst has a key role in developing data insights to improve the District's approach to Service, Workforce and other Planning.
The Senior Analyst will work as part of the Strategy and Partnership Directorate to develop high quality plans, reports, responses and strategies which are consistent with the corporate vision, mission and agreed direction of the South Western Sydney Local Health District and the NSW Ministry of Health. The Analyst will design and conduct environmental scans, data queries and manipulation to obtain data for analysis. The role will develop methods for, and conduct, complex analysis and modelling to support the development of key LHD Service, Workforce, Clinical and other plans.

- Demonstrated ability to design and perform environmental scans, data queries and manipulation to obtain data for analysis and create new processes for complex analysis and statistical modelling
- Sound understanding of statistical techniques and their application to identify data trends of interest and to facilitate the development of data models for predictive analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare data collections, including their strengths and limitations.
- Highly developed inter-personal skills coupled with excellent communication (verbal and written), negotiation, presentation, leadership and management skills to achieve required objectives.
- Demonstrated high level analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills with demonstrated capacity to quickly identify and analyse complex health trends and issues and report risks to enable responsive service management and planning.
- Demonstrated capacity to use computer based applications and information systems, including word processing, database and spreadsheet packages, and statistical packages (eg. SAS, SPSS)
- A degree in Statistics or relevant field; or equivalent work experience; with proficiency in data extraction (SQL) & at least one statistical software tool
