Living in Rural NSW
New England forms the Northern area of the Hunter New England Local Health District, within a day’s drive of Brisbane and Sydney and only 2 hours from the coast. It is also home to Tamworth and Armidale, two of NSW’s major regional hubs with Rural Referral Hospitals, as well as four domestic airports that can have you in Sydney, Brisbane or Newcastle before breakfast. Our district towns and surrounding communities are brimming with awe-inspiring natural experiences, country charm, history and unique local characters, as well as beautiful heritage architecture and welcoming community spirit.

If you’re looking for a change of pace but still want the variety and challenge of high acuity nursing, you’ll thrive in a Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) – and here’s why…

Working at a Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) allows you to experience the full scope of what rural nursing has to offer. Our services encompass acute care, subacute care, emergency care, allied health, primary health, and community services – all under one roof. Hone your critical thinking skills and keep families togetherworking across a small 2-5 bed emergency department and caring for residents of our Residential Aged Care facilities, who, without an MPS, would have to travel long distances away from their homes and support networks.

If you’re looking for a role that keeps you engaged and lets you see the real impact of your work, an MPS is just the change you’re looking for.

What you can expect:

  • Care for young, old and everyone in between, working across both emergency and aged care departments.
  • Utilise your triage and advanced life support experience alongside your critical thinking skills to triage and care for patients who present to the ED.
  • Use your warm and person-centred approach to provide a supportive, understanding and welcoming environment for our aged care residents and their families.

What we have to offer:

  • From the service to the sports field, our teams’ compassion and support for one another doesn’t stop when you clock off.
  • Our Health Service Managers and Educators are here to support you however they can. We want to see you succeed and will provide you with professional development and mentoring to make it happen, but more importantly, we want to make sure you are happy here.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members.

Your clinical skills will ensure you thrive:

The following competencies and certifications are important to support your success within the role. If you haven’t quite mastered everything below, we still encourage you to apply. If you’re willing to learn, we’re willing to train you!

  • Venepuncture.
  • Insertion of peripherally inserted cannula.
  • Insertion of male and female indwelling catheters.
  • Current Advanced Life Support Certification.
  • Current Resuscitation for Kids Certification.
  • Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK) trained.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
