About the role:

Your typical day would consist of liaising with clients to facilitate and build effective partnerships with other health workers, including the Drug & Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS) Team. You will be expected to provide guidance, support and knowledge in terms of education, as well as assistance with accessing services to support clients with alcohol and other drugs dependence challenges. You will also have a level of responsibility to represent clients’ voices and provide advice on how best to proceed with the implementation of ideas.

The successful applicant with work closely with their Line Manager, as well as other members of the DACS Team, which consists of Administration and Allied Health professionals.

Where you’ll be working:

This position will be located at James Fletcher Hospital, Newcastle, in the Hunter Valley region. With Newcastle beach in close proximity, a nice walk along the Esplanade or some fresh air on your lunch break is an opportunity that you can’t pass up! As a part of the DACS teams, you will be joining a team of passionate professionals that work within the sector to provide treatment services for those who are dependent on alcohol and other drugs.

About You:

As a Support Worker, you will have a unique skill set of lived experiences that will help you foster and connect with clientele due to shared experiences. You will be understanding and approachable with a non-judgemental nature, and be capable of working within a multidisciplinary team to advocate for DACS clients’ best interests.

Requirements:

  • Must have a direct experience of Drug and Alcohol treatment Services across different types of substance use treatment.
  • Holding a current driver's licence valid in Australia would be highly regarded.
