About the role:
We are excited to offer a two-year New Graduate position for a Speech Pathologist within the Lower Hunter team. On a daily basis, you would be working with the community paediatric Speech Pathology team  to complete assessments and interventions for paediatric populations. This would be predominantly working with children aged 0-12 years who have mild or isolated speech and language delays.

The team provides high-quality care to children and their families, with the opportunity for you to learn from senior staff. You would be supported by a dynamic and friendly team to provide patient-centred Speech pathology services.

This new role would give you the chance to implement some fun and innovative models of care. For instance you would be able to deliver education for families and caregivers, develop videos for Education centres and use virtual care to monitor progress and provide additional support for kids and their families. You would also deliver outreach services to surrounding sites, to help children access the services they need when they need it.

You would be part of a Paediatric New graduate program, working with other Speech pathologists and Occupational therapists across our district. This is a great way to make a difference, build connections and make a great start to your career.

Where you’ll be working:
Based at East Maitland Community Health Centre, with potential to base at other sites in the Lower Hunter including Maitland, Kurri Kurri and Cessnock District Hospitals.

About You: 

  • Has a passion for providing patient-centred care and working with children and their families
  • Is keen to participate in ongoing team projects and service developments
  • Has a willingness to learn and develop skills across all areas of paediatric Speech pathology
  • Motivated and flexible, committed to the wellbeing and quality outcomes of clients
  • Enjoys working as part of a supportive speech pathology and multidisciplinary team
  • Has graduated from university within the last year.


Requirements:

  • Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Current eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances
