About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Orthoptist to provide high-quality eye care to our patients. Orthoptists in our casual pool, pending their availability may be called upon on short notice or may be rostered in advance to cover shift vacancies across the SWSLHD sites.
You will be responsible for assessing and treating various eye conditions, liaising with other healthcare professionals, and contributing to a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and visual assessments
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical supervision

What you'll be doing
To provide a high quality Orthoptics service to patients/clients and their carers to ensure optimal health outcomes. This encompasses ensuring effective and efficient assessment and intervention in a multidisciplinary setting. The Orthoptist is also responsible for undertaking designated non-clinical tasks to support service delivery including clinical supervision, quality improvement activities and administrative tasks.

- Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in Orthoptics which is accredited as eligibility for membership of Orthoptics Australia and the Australian Orthoptic Board
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in clinical Orthoptics including adult and paediatric, ophthalmic and neurological cases
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills including awareness of working with clients who are culturally and linguistically diverse
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in service planning, evaluation and quality improvement with the ability to translate evidence into practice
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
- Demonstrated understanding of Work Health & Safety requirements in relation to the role
