About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a specialised campus of Mental Health Units within the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). As the nursing leader, you will provide management and guidance to a growing service, driving innovation and developing best practices in mental health nursing. This role offers the chance to shape and nurture a leading nursing workforce, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals, and with the SWSLHD executive.
With a strong focus on patient-centred, compassionate care, you will empower consumers in their recovery while supporting the ongoing development of the nursing workforce. Your leadership will translate effective models of care into practice, and you will lead multiple units/teams within the mental health service.
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role, with flexibility in working hours to support work-life balance. If you're passionate about advancing mental health nursing and creating a positive impact on both patients and staff, this is the role for you.

You demonstrate initiative, creativity and contribute to our vision of innovative models of care
You will support the SWSLHD Transforming Your Experience strategy to provide an exceptional experience for everyone who interacts with our organization for the provision of safe, high quality care
Reporting to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery the ONM works collaboratively with all levels of staff to ensure that the ultimate goal of safe compassionate care for patients of SWSLHD is achieved
The ONM will provide guidance and support to ensure that there is a focus on service development and appropriate oversight of practices, trends and indicators. Ongoing assessment and improvement in operational processes and clinical outcomes is an inherent responsibility of this position
The Nurse Manager is to foster and maintain close professional relationships with relevant clinical managers, peers and District managers to achieve organisational goals
As a nursing senior manager it is essential to ensure that systems and processes are in place to support the Nursing/Midwifery Unit Managers to meet the standards outlined in the Nursing and Midwifery management Framework
This position will support the SWSLHD Strategic Plan as well as the facility/service operational and/or clinical service plan and any relevant service operational or strategic plans

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
- Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting including strategic planning and the development and implementation of Business/Operational Plans
- Demonstrated ability to develop a culture within the organisation which is open to critical reflection and change.
- Demonstrated ability to develop an environment which promotes continuous improvement in practice.
- Demonstrated ability to represent the organization at the local level, and appropriately consult with staff and other health professionals through utilising a broad range of communication skills selectively in a variety of settings.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and incorporate where appropriate emerging trends within the nursing profession.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate performance management across the organisation and identify opportunities to realise enhanced performance.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a strategic plan for the nursing service, contribute to the development of a strategic plan for the organization and assess nursing and/or health service resource utilisation and make recommendations. This should incorporate the effective implementation of organisational change, risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
