What you'll be doing

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) role is to provide consultation, treatment and referral services to patients with substance use issues in accordance with the role’s Scope of Practice
 
The NP role is grounded in the nursing profession's values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible health care delivery that complements other health care providers (ANMC 2006). NPs practice collaboratively as an interdependent member of the multidisciplinary health care team and provide autonomous, person-centred care. 

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria

  1. A Registered Nurse appointed as such to a position approved by the Secretary NSW Health and who is endorsed by the Board, to practice as a nurse practitioner.
  2. Demonstrated understanding and expertise in working as a Nurse Practitioner in a Drug and Alcohol setting.
  3. Demonstrated high level of skills in the provision of consultation, treatment and referral services to patients with substance use issues in accordance with a Nurse Practitioners Scope of Practice.
  4. Demonstrated ability to liaise and provide education to other health professionals and the broader community on Drug & Alcohol issues.
  5. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and can work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
