Where You'll Be Working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. The Role

The Nurse Manager Strategy, Innovation and Capacity has overall responsibility for the recruitment of the nursing workforce at Prince of Wales Hospital and for the implementation of strategies to support workforce retention and career progression from undergraduate level to post registration nursing roles. The Nurse Manager provides expert advice on nursing workforce issues and is responsible for the accurate reporting and analysis of nursing workforce information. The Nurse Manager Strategy, Innovation and Capacity liaises with the Nursing Unit Managers/Nurse Managers to ensure the recruitment and allocation of nurses across the hospital supports safe and effective utilisation of staffing through appropriate skill mix, and is managed within ward established nursing budgets. The Nurse Manager continuously monitors and evaluates nursing resource utilisation within the Prince of Wales Hospital. The Nurse Manager has a direct professional reporting structure to the DON and is an active member of the Nursing Governance Structure through engagement and participation on Nursing Councils.   1. Registered Nurse who holds current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  2. Recognised tertiary management qualifications or working towards same, and evidence of recent professional development to further enhance leadership and management competencies.
  3. Demonstrated skills in leadership and senior management within a complex health care setting including experience in strategic and workforce planning, and in the development of innovative and effective recruitment and retention strategies.
  4. Demonstrated effective verbal, written and negotiation skills with an aptitude to utilize relevant information technology platforms and ability to provide clear and concise plans and reports.
  5. Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and incorporate where appropriate emerging trends within the profession of nursing.
  6. Evidence of experience in financial FTE management and ability to develop and lead financial strategies.
  7. Sound knowledge of current clinical practice, its delivery and models of care and the ability to motivate, inspire and lead staff to achieve service and professional goals.
