The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.
Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.
What you'll be doing
The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.
The Mental Health Clinical Nurse Consultant, grade 1 (CNC) works as a member of the North Shore Ryde (NSR) Community Acute Teams with a focus on the provision of expert knowledge for consumers with complex co-morbid mental and physical health needs.
The CNC will work across both Lower North Shore and Ryde Community Mental Health Centres and will be responsible for the screening and management of the physical health of consumers of the NSR Acute and Early Intervention (EIS) Mental Health Teams.
In collaboration with Community Mental Health staff, the CNC will develop and evaluate evidence based quality improvement processes pertaining to the physical health care of consumers of the noting the reduced life expectancy of this population.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- A Registered Nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience within mental health nursing. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification and/or substantial relevant experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead evidence based nursing practice in the assessment, care planning and care delivery of people with complex mental and physical health issues in a community setting.
- Demonstrated ability in the development and delivery of educational resources and programs.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in mental health clinical assessment and management including use of Information data systems including firstnet and eMR.
- Proven ability to provide clinical leadership to mental health clinicians in the management of mental health consumers with demonstrated high level ability to network and communicate across a range of internal and external key partners.
- Current knowledge and high level of understanding of Mental Health Strategic Plans, Standards, Circulars and Policy Frameworks which have an impact on current mental health practice in relation to consumers’ physical health care needs.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and Accredited Persons certification (or willingness to attend Accredited Persons training).
