Midwifery Educator
We invite applications for midwives who have current education experience and meet the selection criteria to apply to join our Maternity Services education team. The Midwife Educator will work collaboratively to ensure a sustainable training model. The ME will develop and enact a governance system for the training including management of ongoing competence. The incumbent will ensure training is provided to the critical mass from across NSLHD.

The Midwife Educator will liaise with HETI and other LHDs regarding the currency of training. The Midwife Educator will provide the subject matter expertise in within the district. The Midwife Educator will build relationships with stakeholders within and across the LHD to ensure maximisation of resources and minimal repetition.
What you'll be doing
The incumbent will ensure education is sound, evidence-based and contemporary, while being patient and learner centred, flexible and catering to different learning styles.
The ME will support and peer coach the trainers. The ME will engage in and role model professional behaviours in line with the Values and Behaviours Charter. The ME will provide educational leadership in all aspects of service delivery within NSLHD and the building of a positive team culture. The incumbent will provide coaching and mentoring to staff who require support or training in the workplace.
The ME will maintain an up-to-date knowledge of clinical service delivery whilst preserving professional competency standards and ethics. The ME will complete all mandatory training and attend any lectures, tutorials, programs and development activities that management deems necessary.
Part of the responsibility of the ME is to assist with the education and training of midwifery students, newly registered midwives on the Transitional Program, and staff within the Maternity Services.
The ME will collaboratively prioritise the target groups across the LHD. In collaboration with management, the ME will provide educational opportunities to facilitate a positive workplace culture and a safe workplace environment. The incumbent will develop, implement, facilitate and evaluate educational opportunities in all aspects of service delivery to enhance staff capabilities.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current Registration as a Registered Midwife Division ( with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).
- Holds tertiary Post Graduate qualifications. Holds, and/or is working towards, a post-registration educational qualification relevant to providing specialist Midwifery education training sessions for a range of stakeholders.
- An awareness of contemporary issues in Midwifery clinical practice, quality service delivery and staff education development.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to develop, deliver and evaluate education programs consistent with the learning and development need of midwives.
- Sound theoretical knowledge and demonstrated experience in utilising a range of teaching and learning strategies to support staff development including eLearning.
- Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team with a variety of multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Demonstrated advanced competence in the use of technology for communication as pertinent to the Midwife Education role.
