About the role: 

Lead the future of postnatal care at John Hunter Hospital in this Monday - Friday leadership role. Overseeing the postnatal inpatient ward, home maternity service, lactation services, and the Family Care midwifery team, you will drive clinical excellence, innovation, and compassionate, women-centred care.

You will manage and inspire a team of dedicated midwives, fostering professional growth, collaboration, and best-practice standards. Your expertise in workforce management, service planning, and evidence-based care will ensure optimal outcomes for women and newborns.

As a key leader, you will champion Baby Friendly Hospital Accreditation, strengthen multidisciplinary partnerships, and support the transition to our state-of-the-art Clinical Services Building in 2026.

    Requirements:

    Our successful candidate will possess the following:
    • Registered Midwife with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
    • Extensive recent management experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in an acute hospital setting, supported by a relevant tertiary management qualification and/or equivalent work experience.
