About the Opportunity 

The role involves a mix of leadership responsibilities and direct consumer work. You will be working to support culture change to improve outcomes and service delivery for those with SPMI and complex MH needs.

The position is part of the SWSLHD PCLI/IDMH and NDIS team. It works alongside other SWSLHD MH services (inpatient and community) and the wider PCLI state network.

Professional qualities desired are, staff comfortable working in challenging environments whilst sustaining enthusiasm for individual and systemic advocacy.

The role is full time however those interested in part time/job sharing are encouraged to apply as this can be negotiated. The PCLI team is a this is a district wide service however the team hub is based in Liverpool hospital.

 

What You'll be Doing
The PCLI is a coordinated state-wide approach to supporting people with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and complex needs who have been in hospital for more than twelve months and or are likely to experience difficulty with discharge solutions, to re-establish their lives in the community.

 
The Senior Clinician will work with existing inpatient and community teams to support the assessment and progression of safe transitions  consumers into the community or an appropriate inpatient setting based on the consumer's strengths, needs and wishes.
The Senior Clinician will liaise and work closely with the PCLI team, mental health services , consumers, carers , family and external services ,  ensuring timely, appropriate and high quality care is provided to PCLI Consumers.

This position will provide leadership, mentorship and supervision, to ensure the delivery of evidence-based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment . The position   will carry a clinical caseload, appropriate to the needs of the service and PCLI program.

How to Apply

  1. Relevant qualifications as an Occupational Therapist or Clinical Psychologist currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, or qualified Social Worker eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  2. Demonstrated extensive experience in mental health rehabilitation providing advanced evidence based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment for consumers with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and complex needs
  3. Demonstrated capacity to function at an advanced clinical level and to provide clinical leadership, education and supervision to MH staff across a range of MH settings.
  4. Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills (including excellent negotiation and advocacy), problem solving skills and personal resilience and highlight how these skills have been vital and used when working with numerous internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
  6. Demonstrated experience in leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery through quality improvement projects or research. Facilitation of projects that has demonstrated improvements in MH outcomes and showed sustained and improved change of practice and service delivery.
  7. Ability to work independently and in consultation with the multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders.
  8. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
