The Cessnock District Hospital, a 64-bed facility, provides essential medical services to the local community, including emergency, surgical, and general care. They are seeking a proactive and dedicated Enrolled Nurse to join their tight-knit supportive team, making this a fantastic opportunity for healthcare professionals passionate about community care.



About the role:

Cessnock District Hospital is seeking compassionate and skilled Enrolled Nurses to join our 16-bed surgical unit. As integral members of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care across a diverse range of cases, including urology, gynecology, dental procedures, general surgery, and endoscopies. Working collaboratively with nursing, medical, and allied health professionals, you will ensure the highest standards of care for patients, who typically have short stays of 1–2 nights. This role includes opportunities to contribute within both our primary surgical unit and surge bed unit during periods of increased demand, offering a dynamic and supportive environment to make a meaningful impact on patient recovery and outcomes.

Successful candidates will be supported by the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) and Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), with additional after-hours assistance from a CNE. The hospital is committed to fostering professional growth, offering ongoing training opportunities and support for further studies, ensuring staff have the resources to excel in their roles and advance their careers.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for facilitating positive, effective working relationships and possess the ability to adapt to different communication styles as well as able to communicate sensitively with patients and their families/carers.

Additional information:

  • Enrolled Nurse (Medication Endorsed where applicable) with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
