About the role:

We are seeking dedicated nursing staff to join our team in the transit lounge. Ideal candidates should thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high patient turnover each shift.

Your responsibilities will include managing various organisational tasks necessary for patient discharge, such as obtaining allied health clearances, preparing discharge medications, completing medical and nursing summaries, and coordinating transport. If you are organised and able to work efficiently to ensure timely discharges, we would love to hear from you!

You will be supported in this role by the NUM. My health learning and in-service opportunities will be provided with the option to increase skills as required.

Where you’ll be working:

Manning Transit Lounge is a dedicated unit of 7 beds/chairs, including one private room, staffed by two nursing professionals at all times. This specialised facility plays a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient patient discharges from Manning Hospital. By streamlining the discharge process, the Transit Lounge not only enhances patient flow but also helps maintain timely access to acute inpatient bed capacity. Our team is committed to providing exceptional care and support during this transitional phase, ensuring that patients receive the attention they need as they prepare to return home or move to other facilities.

The Transit Lounge consists of shifts from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. This area plays a pivotal role in the safe and efficient discharge of patients to their homes or other facilities.

If the below sounds like you, we’d LOVE to see you apply:

  • You provide best practice nursing care within professional boundaries and in accordance with ANCSI competencies, legal and ethical parameters and NSW Health and HNE Health policies and procedures.
  • You have a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • You possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • You help patients and their families understand clinical care and services, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health.
  • You use materials and equipment wisely to make the most of limited resources.
  • You maintain accurate detailed patient reports and records to meet legislative requirements and ensure continuity of safe patient care delivery.
  • You are comfortable working with patients who exhibit challenging behaviours.
  • You are committed to the CORE values and the Excellence Framework.
