The Opportunity
The position of Director of Nursing and Midwifery at Port Macquarie Base Hospital (PMBH) is a key member of the PMBH Executive, responsible for the Nursing and Midwifery Service within the facility and providing shared responsibility for the leadership of all the nursing and midwifery staff and operational management in the facility.
 
This position provides visible and accessible nursing and midwifery leadership promoting a positive workplace culture and ensuring the delivery of high quality and compassionate patient and family centred care in line with best practice.
This position is accountable for effective:
  • Clinical and corporate governance.
  • Organisational and strategic management.
  • Service planning.
  • Development and management of efficient allocation and utilisation of nursing and midwifery workforce to assist in the delivery of high quality clinical services in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Procedure, practice, professional development and research are planned, delivered and evaluated.

About you

Do you have extensive recent nursing experience in large facilities with experience in leading staff and managing operational services supported by tertiary management qualifications?  Do you have proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the service/facility are managed to provide safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive.  You will need demonstrated experience in managing complex HR and Industrial matters including high level communication and negotiation skills.

The Organisation

The Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is a government funded health organization that covers an area of 11,335 square kilometers extending from Port Macquarie in the south to Coffs Harbour in the north.  MNCLHD provides a diverse range of services to a population of approximately 215,000 people.  It has a workforce of 4,694 across seven hospitals sites and 12 Community Health Centres.

This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.
