The Director, Clinical Governance and Medical Services, has primary responsibility for strategic and professional leadership of the clinical governance and medical services portfolio across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.  The position will work with clinical staff, executives and managers to strengthen clinician involvement in decision-making, strategic service delivery and clinical practice improvement.
 
 
The Director, Clinical Governance and Medical Services, plays a key leadership role in the integration of patient care, clinical governance and innovation across the organisation.
 
As a member of the SESLHD executive team, the Director, Clinical Governance and Medical Services, will work collaboratively with other members of the executive team to lead, monitor, evaluate and improve patient care and service delivery, to achieve the strategic and operational objectives of SESLHD.
This position is temporary for a period of 2 years with the possibility of extension without further advertisement or interview. 

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

  1. Registration or eligible for registration with Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA). Candidate to provide AHPRA registration number on application. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award and demonstrated significant experience in a senior medical administration role.
  2. Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  3. Demonstrated highly developed conceptual, analytical, problem solving and strategic planning skills.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of clinical service delivery, including legislative and regulatory requirements, and the principles of clinical governance and clinical practice improvement.
  5. Demonstrated experience in driving a culture of professional medical administration and governance, inclusive of issues relating to medical workforce, medical professional practice, clinical governance, clinical ethics, clinical teaching and clinical leadership.
  6. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with clinicians, managers and other stakeholders.
  7. Demonstrated expertise in clinical leadership, including coaching, mentoring and training skills to support a range of change management initiatives.
  8. Willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the role.


This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand NSW Health Policy PD2023_022.
