What you'll be doing

The role of the Data Manager is to support the overall management of the service by ensuring accurate, high quality data entry of client information and by providing accurate and timely data reporting and analyses. 


The Data Manager is responsible for:
  • Development and maintenance of the Service's Clinical Information Systems
  • Development and implementation of data quality control programs to analyse and evaluate the quality of the service database
  • Development and implementation of routine and ad hoc reporting. This will include the development of mechanisms for the routine checking of performance indicators in accordance with the National Accreditation Standards and preparing relevant operational reports
  • Management of the data team
  • Provision of technical advice and support for all BreastScreen sites
  • Testing and implementation of the enhancements to the Service's Clinical Information system

Where you'll be working

BreastScreen NSW is a vital, government-funded program dedicated to reducing breast cancer mortality through free, accessible mammography screenings for women. Serving communities across New South Wales, BreastScreen NSW provides high-quality, supportive services that empower women to detect breast cancer early, often before symptoms arise. Through its extensive network of screening and assessment sites, the program ensures convenient and confidential access to lifesaving screening, aiming to improve outcomes and support women’s health statewide.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Appropriate tertiary qualifications such as Data Management, Health Information Management or any other related discipline
  2. Extensive experience in the development, maintenance, validation and quality control of a database in a health or similar setting
  3. Demonstrated outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
  4. Knowledge and application of data analysis tools such as SQL, and/or SAS is required
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, clinical staff and other key stakeholders
  6. Excellent oral and verbal communication skills including proven interpersonal and negotiation skills
  7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and independently with minimal supervision
