Where you will be working:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist in Training to join our supportive and dynamic team at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Hunter Valley. You will be based at the High Street campus in Maitland, however may be required to travel to other parts of the Hunter Valley area within work time. CAMHS is a specialist mental health service that assesses and treats young people 0 – 17 years of age and their families/carers who are living in the HNE Local Health District (LHD). Young people referred to the service have complex and severe mental health problems that significantly impact on most aspects of their functioning and development.

About the role:
As a Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist in Training within Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service you will provide a high quality clinical and case management service to children, young people and their families/caregivers. You will provide Clinical Psychology expertise to the multi-disciplinary team.

The role of the Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist in Training in this setting includes:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team model to provide specialist person centred clinical intervention to children/young people and their families/carers, to ensure delivery of innovative and developmentally appropriate clinical practice and therapeutic interventions.
  • Participate in the delivery of trauma informed care and its application in working with children/young people with mental health concerns and their families /carers.
  • Exercise independent professional judgement.
  • Ensure the care delivered sits within professional, organisational, legal and ethical boundaries and reflects evidence based, best practice knowledge and embraces a collaborative, client centred, family and culturally sensitive approach.
  • Identify and act on opportunities for improvement in clinical practice and participate in initiatives to enhance service delivery and consumer outcomes.
  • As part of our supportive team, you'll receive guidance from the CAMHS Hunter Valley Clinical Leader and experienced psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and C&A Psychiatrists. Additionally, you'll benefit from regular clinical supervision and access to continuous training and educational programs, all designed to enhance your professional development and ensure your success in this role.
