About the role: 

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Trauma, you will play a pivotal role in case management and supporting multidisciplinary, interdepartmental, and interfacility teams to provide exceptional care to trauma patients admitted to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital. Acting as a trusted resource for Northern Hunter New England (HNE) Rural and Regional Facilities, you will provide expert reviews, guidance, and advice on trauma care within Emergency Departments across the region.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead, educate, and advocate for best-practice trauma care while working alongside a collaborative and highly skilled team.

What You’ll Be Doing

🔹 Case managing trauma patients, ensuring best-practice care throughout their journey.
🔹 Providing leadership and clinical expertise in trauma management within the hospital and across regional facilities.
🔹 Collaborating with the Trauma Director and Critical Care Nurse Manager, while working closely with emergency, ICU, and surgical teams.
🔹 Offering expert reviews and advisory support to rural and regional Emergency Departments.
🔹 Driving education and training initiatives to upskill healthcare professionals in trauma care.
🔹 Occasionally traveling to provide outreach support and guidance to regional facilities.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in this specialty field. In addition the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing qualifications in Graduate Certificate.
