An opportunity has become available to join the Health Information and Records Service in Nepean Hospital. This position is responsible for implementation and delivery of a continuous clinical coding and SNAP data quality improvement program for Nepean Hospital. This encompasses clinical documentation reviews, coding &SNAP audits and education activities for both clinicians and Clinical Coders.
The successful incumbent will be an integral member to ensure clinical coding and SNAP data is of high quality to accurately reflect casemix complexity, to optimise activity based funding and support best practice standards of clinical documentation. What you will bring to the role:
- Tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management (or equivalent), or completion of a recognised clinical coding course HIMAA, OTEN)
- Demonstrated clinical coding expertise with sound knowledge of Australian Clinical Coding Standards and recent clinical coding experience; and ability to undertake quality audits and analysis at a tertiary level
- Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including a capacity to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change and positively influence senior management and clinical staff across all levels of the healthcare setting.
- Advanced computer skills required to manipulate and analyse data (using software such MS-Access and MS-Excel). Extensive experience using Patient Administration System/eMR, 3M Codefinder and other reporting systems
- Demonstrated ability to organise tasks, assign priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between Clinical Coding, Casemix, DRG & SNAP classification systems and Activity Based Funding/Management Models.
