What you'll be doing
The Towards Zero Suicides initiatives seek to provide leading best practice crisis care and support, build on local community resilience and improve systems and practices to reduce the suicide rate in NSW. As part of this initiative, a range of services are being delivered across the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN), including Safe Haven
and the Suicide Prevention Outreach Team (SPOT). Operationalised by a team of Peer Workers with lived experience of suicide and mental health clinicians, together the services will adopt a compassionate care model to consumer driven service provisions.
 
This position will provide strategic planning support, leadership in service delivery, operations and ongoing evaluation, lead required change management processes and oversee reporting across services. This role will also support other mental health initiatives and support integration of services across the SCHN. Reporting to the TZS/AED Team Leader, the Project Manager will work closely with key stakeholders including the Mental Health Service, local clinicians and managers, peer workers, consumers, carers, Primary Health Networks, NGOs, LHD primary and secondary health services, NSW Mental Health Branch and others to support the various project stages required for the successful and innovative service
changes in SCHN.
 
This role will lead the coordination of Aftercare services with relevant hospital and community mental health and suicide prevention services to ensure access to aftercare support is available for all people who need it. The Lead will be required to plan and implement strategies to enhance service visibility for patients/consumers, families and clinicians, coordinate with Network and Local Health District teams to ensure the effectiveness of referral pathways, and play a lead role in clinical and operational governance consistent with NSW Health and SCHN policies, procedures and standards
  1. Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent work experience relevant to mental health and suicide prevention and/or relevant experience in a health related discipline and project management applicable to the role.
  2. An applied understanding of contemporary approaches to suicide prevention and service delivery models including the application of Clinical Care Standards, outcome measurement, evaluation and Value Based Health Care.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge, experience and effective delivery of health service projects including workforce management, inter-relationship between models of care, contemporaneous evidence base, innovation and relevant operational policies and procedures.
  4. Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to give presentations, engage clinicians, negotiate change and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
  5. Demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to provide authoritative advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation.
  6. Experience in use of routinely collected clinical information for service improvement, research and/or performance management, including issues related to data governance
  7. Experience in the health care sector, with demonstrated ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams; to influence other health professionals; and engage meaningfully with communities in order to improve health and wellbeing
  8. Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
