Advanced Trainee, Intensive Care Medicine - CAM24391
This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality intensive care in St George ICU, a state-of-the-art Level 3 unit in a major trauma centre. Trainees will manage complex cases across trauma, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and more, while participating in the CICM training program with a pathway to fellowship.
You will gain hands-on experience in advanced interventions like ECMO and echocardiography, with opportunities for rotational placements in Anaesthesia or Medicine. St George ICU offers a dynamic learning environment, providing graded responsibility, clinical autonomy, and access to a fully equipped simulation centre.

About SESLHD
To provide effective medical services to patients under supervision in a complex clinical environment. The main role is to provide clinical care to Intensive Care Unit patients. The Advanced Trainee will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and supervise junior medical officers (JMOs). It is also expected that the Advanced Trainee participates in the clinical meetings and teaching and be subject to training and performance reviews.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Experience working in a Level 3 ICU at Resident Medical Officer Level grade or above
- Anaesthetic experience at Resident Medical Officer level or above
- Demonstrated competence in simple ICU procedures such as insertion of central venous catheters and peripheral arterial catheters
- Demonstrates commitment to relevant training program
- Demonstrates excellent clinical skills and judgement
- Demonstrates teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting and ability to work in a complex environment
- Experience and willingness to teach junior medical staff
