What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Advanced Trainee (AT) in the Emergency Department is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This includes both Adult and Paediatric patients. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.
The Advanced Trainee is expected to supervise and also participate in teaching Junior Medical Officers and Medical Students, and taking part in research where appropriate.

WSLHD has received accreditation by Australian Medical Council (AMC) for the AMC-WBA( Workplace-Based Assessment) program at Blacktown & Mt Druitt Hospitals.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the medical board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Must have completed at least three postgraduate years training including a minimum 12 months full time Emergency Medicine experience, or as Provisional Trainee in an Australian Public Hospital or equivalent (not as an Observer).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment with commitment to self-education and continuous professional development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
- Ability to recognise the acutely unwell patient and to initiate immediate management and institute Basic Life Support. Completion of ALS training, or willingness to complete in the first 3 months of appointment
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and preparedness and ability to participate in 7 day per week 24-hour shift work roster.
