Where you'll be working
The Centre for Psychotherapy (CFP) is the specialist service within Hunter New England Mental Health Service for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Eating Disorders (ED). Located at the James Fletcher campus in Newcastle, our service overlooks the stunning Newcastle Beach, offering a unique and serene working environment.
CFP is recognised for its expertise in the treatment of BPD and ED through evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatments. Beyond clinical care, our team provides clinical supervision, consultation, training, and research, ensuring we remain at the forefront of best practice.
About the role
As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will:
- Provide psychotherapy for individuals and/or groups with primary diagnoses of BPD and/or eating disorders, utilising evidence-based therapies such as:
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- DBT for Eating Disorders
- CBT-e (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders)
- Conversational Model (CM) Therapy
- Offer clinical leadership and supervision to clinical psychologists within CFP and across Hunter New England Mental Health.
- Provide consultation to mental health clinicians throughout the district on complex cases involving BPD and ED.
- Deliver specialist supervision and training to mental health staff or teams.
- Engage in quality improvement projects and research to advance best practices in psychotherapy.
About you
We are seeking a highly experienced clinical psychologist with a passion for evidence-based psychotherapies and clinical leadership.
You will have:
- Experience delivering one or more psychotherapy models used at CFP, including DBT, CM, CBT-e for individuals and/or groups.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision, consultation, training, and/or research.
- A strong ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and support the professional growth of clinicians.
All staff at CFP receive individual and/or group supervision for the psychotherapy models they provide.
Requirements
- Generally registered as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology, with not less than 12 months full time equivalent on Year 5 of the Clinical Psychology pay scale.
- A demonstrated understanding of the research literature regarding evidence for psychotherapeutic treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder and/or Eating Disorders and experience in treatment provision of best-practice psychotherapeutic care for Borderline Personality Disorder and/or Eating Disorders.
- Extensive effective experience in assessment, intervention, and evaluation of clinical outcomes with complex mental health consumer populations.
