Join the Community Transition Team within the Pathways to Community Living Initiative (PCLI), a state-wide program revolutionising complex care and rehabilitation in mental health services across NSW. Based at James Fletcher Hospital Campus in Newcastle, you’ll collaborate with inpatient and community services to support individuals with enduring and serious mental illness as they transition from long-term inpatient care back into the community with appropriate supports.

About the role

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will provide high-quality, consumer-focused, evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to support successful community transitions. You’ll work closely with consumers, families/carers, and Community Managed Organisations (CMOs), ensuring individual needs, strengths, and preferences are prioritised. Your role will involve:

  • Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments to guide transition planning.
  • Providing consultation and intervention strategies for complex mental health presentations.
  • Supporting CMOs with psychological expertise to optimise community placements.
  • Developing and delivering education and training programs for stakeholders.
  • Offering clinical supervision and leadership within the multidisciplinary team.
  • This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of a newly developed position, shaping its future as part of the evolving PCLI model. You will also be connected to a statewide network of PCLI clinicians.

About you

You are an experienced Clinical Psychologist with:

  • Expertise in complex mental health presentations within a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Experience in psychological assessment and intervention for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Strong ability to communicate clinical concepts to both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
  • A passion for recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care.
