What you'll be doing
This is a recognised training position for the subspecialty training in COGU within the integrated department of Ultrasound in obstetrics and Gynaecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine. The trainee will be involved in the ultrasound assessment of both normal and high-risk pregnancies as well as emergency and booked Gynaecological ultrasound examinations. The trainee will develop skills in informing patients about the results of the ultrasound examinations and be able to provide advice on further appropriate investigations and follow-up. The trainee will be develop practical skills in performing CVS and amniocentesis for the purposes of prenatal diagnosis. The trainee will have exposure to fetal blood sampling and transfusion and fetal laser therapy and radiofrequency ablation for complications of twin pregnancies. The trainee will also be expected to contribute to the continuing education programs specific to COGU training and in general for medical students and staff. There is an expectation to undertake a program of research within the department.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Have obtained FRANZCOG or in their final years of training or equivalent specialist training program.
  3. Have performed satisfactorily as a Trainee for at least 4 years, at least 2 years in a hospital with level V neonatal facilities and tertiary referral Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  4. A demonstrated ability for basic/clinical research.
  5. Suitable for centrally appointed RANZCOG subspecialty training in COGU or advanced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ultrasound.
  6. Interest in women's health and ability to communicate with women and their families.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
  8. Ability to take responsibility and initiative.
