What you'll be doing
Are you an experienced nursing leader ready to make an impact? We are seeking a dynamic Operational Nurse Manager to lead the Surgery and Anaesthetics services at Westmead Hospital.
The role will support daily operational nursing management of a range of clinical specialties including providing assistance with all aspects of patient flow and access.
Provide strategic and operational leadership for surgical and anaesthetic nursing teams
Drive service improvement, cultural cohesion, and clinical excellence
Manage resources effectively to achieve optimal patient outcomes
Foster research, innovation, and best practice across multidisciplinary teams
Represent nursing services at local and organisational levels, influencing policy and planning
Drive safe, high-quality patient care and efficient resource use
Lead clinical and administrative service improvements
Foster cultural cohesiveness and strong nursing leadership
Contribute to strategic priorities for nursing and midwifery across the facility

Essential Requirements
Registration in line with Award requirements: Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Selection Criteria
Extensive recent management experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in the relevant setting, supported by a relevant tertiary management qualification and/or work experience.
Proven ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team and to represent the nursing /midwifery service and organisation at a local level.
Proven experience in managing key priorities and delivering successful strategies relating to service outcomes, KPI's, and Westmead Hospital Nursing and Midwifery vision and goals.
Demonstrated experience in the application of change management within a tertiary health care environment , with an ability to function as part of a senior management team, working cohesively with other disciplines to manage complex health services.
Highly developed ability to think critically, set goals, formulate plans and policies to achieve identified outcomes.
Evidence of experience in financial management and the ability to support financial strategies of the facility relating to the service areas.
