Successful applicants will need to have experience in the management of a range of Endocrine conditions, which may include General Endocrinology, cancer related Endocrinology, Endocrinology of Women’s Health, obesity, and diabetes. Experience and a commitment to research and teaching would be an advantage. The successful applicants will be expected to take on leadership roles. They need to be willing to be a part of the on-call roster for Endocrinology.
The Westmead Department of Diabetes & Endocrinology is a Level 6 Hospital Endocrinology Service which provides a diverse range of Endocrine services, predominantly in the outpatient setting or in a consultative capacity. Specialised services provided include dynamic testing, radioactive iodine, pituitary surgery, fertility management, osteoporosis, cystic fibrosis endocrinology, insulin pump management, young adult diabetes, pregnancy related diabetes. In 2021, Westmead was ranked in the top 100 hospitals in the world for Endocrinology by Newsweek Statistica.
As the position is up to 1.0 FTE, a fractional appointment may be considered.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Selection Criteria
· Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award/ Health Insurance Act 1997. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable)
· Sound clinical knowledge in Diabetes & Endocrinology demonstrated through successful and recency of clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position
· Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including:
o High level interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
· Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision
· Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support applied or clinical research within the Department.
· Familiarity with hospital electronic medical record systems.
· A demonstrated ability to innovate and provide leadership.
Working with Children Check
