Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be located at Westmead Hospital within the Department of Pain Medicine.
Successful applicants will provide contemporary comprehensive Specialist Chronic Pain Management services at the primary facility and other facilities where applicable for optimal patient outcomes and provide clinical leadership, participate in quality improvement activities and provide training and education to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.
Applicants expecting to be awarded fellowship within 3 months are eligible to apply.
Essential Requirements for Appointment
1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine or Rehabilitation Medicine or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable).
2. Sound clinical knowledge in specialty of pain medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
3. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
- High level interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
4. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research within the Department.
Position Specific Selection Criteria
1. Completed a Primary Fellowship in a designated Specialty recognised by AHPRA / AMC and Specialist Pain Medicine training with the award of the FFPMANZCA or Rehabilitation Medicine with the award of FAFRM, registrable by AHPRA.
2. Prior experience in training and education.
3. Preferable to have interventional pain management skills to enable minimally invasive pain interventions and neuromodulation.

1. Qualifications and credentials required for core scope of practice in the specialty.
2. Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty
3. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
- Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.
- Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.
- Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.
- Systems thinking and risk-taking aptitude.
- Commitment to self -care and personal development.
- Capacity to maintain personal integrity, tolerate stress and demonstrate resilience.
- Commitment to building relationships, leading, and developing others.

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
