The Sleep Medicine unit at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick is seeking a permanent Staff Specialist up to 0.7 FTE (28 hours per week) to join their team, commencing on 22nd June 2026.
Fractional appointments will be considered with a preference for permanent 0.4 FTE or greater.
What you'll be doing
Develop and undertake world class research that enhances health outcomes of children with sleep disorders.
Develop and support the educational activities within the Department and more broadly across the hospital.
Support the activities of the sleep technicians.
Mentor and train the next generation of health professionals and scientists in the field of paediatric sleep medicine.
Effectively work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Participate in review and improvement activities that focus on measurable impact on health outcomes.
Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

Please note: To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist (FRACP) with recognised training in Paediatric Sleep and Respiratory Medicine and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Paediatric Sleep Medicine including respiratory and non-respiratory paediatric sleep disorders and management of complex and rare diseases at the role delineation of the service.
- Proven expertise in the performance and interpretation of sleep studies and titration of non-invasive pulmonary ventilation.
- Ongoing commitment to research and translating research into clinical practice and possesses (or enrolled in) a higher research degree is desirable.
- Proven expertise in working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Proven expertise in working effectively with stakeholders, including consumers.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster, including weekend and public holiday cover, and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience. The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the relevant University. The academic title will be held for the duration of The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network for clinical matters.
