About the role:
This is a permanent full-time position within our department working as the Senior Occupational Therapist in the Stroke Unit & Neurology service. This position will be responsible for a clinical caseload as well as supervising Level 1/ Level 2 Occupational Therapists within the team. We are seeking strong leadership in this space and there are various other roles and responsibilities you will have as a Senior clinician in our department. Our Stroke/Neurology senior is part of the Acute stream within our department meaning you will be working alongside other acute senior clinicians and Level 1/ Level 2 staff. You will get the opportunity to lead great QI initiatives, empower the NDIS portfolio in neurology while also enhancing the clinical & professional development of teaching level’s 1/ Level 2’s in the neurology clinical caseload.
In this senior clinical role, you will provide advanced occupational therapy services to stroke and neurology patients while leading and supporting junior staff. Key responsibilities will be to:
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based assessment and intervention
Lead clinical care within the stroke unit and rehab ward
Provide supervision and mentorship to Level 1/Level 2 therapists and students
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
Drive quality improvement, data collection and service evaluation

Essential Requirements:
Qualifications: Degree or Diploma recognised by AAOT-NSW
Registration: Current general registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist
Selection Criteria:
Extensive previous clinical experience in Occupational Therapy in an acute care setting with demonstrated extensive experience in the acute management of clients post stroke as well as the management of clients in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
Ability to work both independently with minimal direct clinical supervision and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders throughout all organisational levels.
Demonstrated well-developed time management skills with excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing skills.
Demonstrated experience in team leadership with experience in providing clinical supervision to occupational therapists and students.
Ability to initiate, lead, complete and implement quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
