Where you’ll be working
The Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) is the primary entity for clinical governance and safety assurance across NSW Health. We lead and monitor health system safety by embedding and maturing NSW Health safety system model and strategically partnering with health entities and consumers to foster safe care. The CEC has a system wide leadership role in safety and improvement, with a focus on learning. It provides independent guidance and advice on clinical safety, and responds rapidly when system-wide issues arise.


About the Opportunity
The Senior Lead, Research and Knowledge is responsible for leading the Research and Knowledge team at the CEC. The role focuses on applying expertise in health services research, governance, and evidence to address system safety challenges and improve quality, productivity, and patient safety. Key responsibilities include developing and evaluating CEC's research and knowledge translation approach aligned with its strategic goals, collaborating with the Principal Lead, Partnerships and Knowledge to enable evidence-informed decision-making, driving research partnerships, strategy, and implementation science to support best practices in programs and policy, and managing planning, coordination, and delivery of initiatives that foster a knowledge-driven learning culture within CEC.

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant health discipline and/or equivalent; with extensive experience, knowledge and demonstrated achievements that enable a sophisticated understanding of safety and quality in healthcare and change methodologies.
  2. Demonstrated superior analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong ability to manage multiple and concurrent initiatives with conflicting milestones and deadlines and analyse complex data and synthesise it into clear insights and recommendations.
  3. Demonstrated experience in use of research methodologies used in health services research and extensive experience in conducting literature reviews and applying research evidence to inform policies or practices and discuss implications for safety and quality initiatives.
  4. Knowledge and experience in application of governance frameworks, e.g. risk, policy and compliance, and sound knowledge of the research regulatory landscape and requirements that apply to research.
  5. Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience developing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders including liaising with and influencing stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  6. High level verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in reviewing, synthesising, interpreting, communicating, and presenting complex information for a range of audiences in writing and in person.
  7. Skills and experience in leadership and management to achieve team goals, including developing team/unit plans that account for team capability, strengths and opportunities for development.
