What you'll be doing
This role is part of the Safe Wayz program which coordinates an integrated response for children under the age of criminal responsibility (currently 10 years in NSW) with problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB).  

Safe Wayz adopts a strength-based, family- focused and culturally centred trauma-informed approach to working with children and their families to help prevent behaviours from escalating.  

The team is supported through a State-Wide clinical network, who will provide clinical and cultural connections, and support in undertaking this work. Safe Wayz Clinicians will have access to individual supervision.  

This role will coordinate primary prevention initiatives, provide early support for children and families to address behaviours when they are first identified, and coordinate pathways into specialist counselling services for children and families who need them. This role will also undertake a small clinical case load. 

 

About you
Are you a registered Psychologist with APRA or do you hold a Bachelor of Social Work and eligibility for the  Australian Association of Social Workers? Are you a compassionate practitioner skilled in delivering culturally responsive, child-centred and family-focused counselling and case management with young children and their carers? Do you have experience responding to harmful sexual behaviours and building strong partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, grounded in cultural safety and an understanding of intergenerational trauma?

This position is located within Mid North Coast LHD.
