The Mental Health Commission NSW is seeking interested applicants for the position Senior Evidence and Research Officer, Mental Health and Wellbeing Reform. This is an exciting opportunity to manage and deliver mental health and wellbeing projects and initiatives that drive systemic reform across NSW.

The Mental Health Commission of New South Wales (the Commission) was established in July 2012. The Commission's purpose is to lead, drive and measure mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention reform across whole of government.  Our progressive work shapes contemporary policies to achieve the best outcomes for the people of NSW.   
The Commission works with government agencies, peak bodies, community-managed organisations, academics, advocacy groups and service providers. We believe this approach, with close collaboration in all aspects of our work, will achieve stronger services and better outcomes for all people in NSW.

Primary Purpose of the Role – 
The Senior Evidence and Research Officer is a key member of the System Reform Team reporting to the Manager, Mental Health and Wellbeing Reform. 
This role is responsible for identifying emerging issues and undertaking synthesis, analysis, evaluation and research translation, and preparing literature reviews, issue papers, briefings and reports. This role is critical to advancing the work of the Commission, informing and improving mental health and wellbeing policy development, service and system reform, and consumer and carer outcomes.

You are a proactive, professional with strong knowledge of mental health and project management. You are committed to evidence-based practice, culturally sensitive approaches, and improving service outcomes.
You excel at managing, coordinating and contributing to project activities, overseeing timelines, working with stakeholders and turning policy directions into practical, measurable actions. Skilled in analysing information, you prepare high-quality briefs and reports that support informed decision-making.

With excellent communication skills and superior writing ability, you build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation. 

Essential Requirements: (to be addressed in your application) 
• Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, health sciences or other related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to conduct literature reviews, environmental scans and gap analyses, synthesising diverse sources of evidence and translating research to identify emerging issues and priorities.
• Proven ability to prepare clear, concise and well-structured documents and presentations tailored to diverse audiences including senior executives and government stakeholders.
• Commitment to continuous learning, mutual feedback, and contributing to a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an effective team, and with external stakeholders.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
• Experience in the mental health and wellbeing sector and/or an understanding of the social, cultural, biological and systemic factors influencing mental health and wellbeing.
